The Associated General Contractors (AGC), Maryland Chapter, names Karen Barbour to its Board of Directors
The Barbour Group, a surety bond and commercial insurance agency known for its passionate approach to delivering bonding solutions, is pleased to announce that AGC of Maryland has named Karen Barbour to its board of directors.
Barbour established The Barbour Group in 2002 as an independent insurance agency focused on construction bonding and commercial insurance.
Barbour complements 28 years of her surety profession as an underwriter, producer and agency owner with her ten years as a commercial construction company owner.
Barbour was a partner of Barbour Construction Corp. (trading as Specialized Metals) for 10 years. The company performed work throughout the Mid-Atlantic region as a steel erection and metal fabrication subcontractor. During this time, a prominent undertaking for Barbour Construction Corporation was expertly executing on a landmark project to help restore the top two inside levels of the Washington Monument.
Recognized throughout the surety industry for her leadership, Barbour demonstrates her passion to alleviate unnecessary barriers for small businesses through education and by impacting public policy nationally and in her state.
